Welcome John!

John Scally has joined us! With lots of experience and involvement in a variety of social care and voluntary settings John has joined us in North Ayrshire as a Dads Worker. He's really looking forward to getting stuck in and working alongside Ryan to support dads and families across the area.

Groups

If you are wanting to spend some quality time with your wee one(s) and chat with some other local dads, our groups are the place for you. Here is the groups that we are running in May:

North Ayrshire: In North Ayrshire we have an Irvine Dads Group on Sundays at 10.30am and a Three Towns Dads Group on Wednesdays at 6.30pm. These will take place every week.

Glasgow: In Glasgow we have a playgroup on Every Saturday at 10am in Maryhill.

Edinburgh: In Edinburgh we run playgroups every Saturday and Sunday at 10am as well as our Tuesday group at 6.30pm which will be running a 6 week special ‘Dishes with Dad’ - bringing dads together to cook and eat together! (You’ll need to contact Greg on 07590106889 if you want to come)

Dundee: We are working on setting up some Dundee groups, so stay posted and follow our social media for updates.

Workshops

You know that classic saying: April showers bring May workshops? OK maybe that isn’t the actual saying, but we do have a lot of workshops going on in May.

Dads Antenatal Workshop - Our Dads Antenatal workshops are here to support dads-to-be with practical skills, support and a space to ask any questions. You can find us in Edinburgh on the 6th of May and Glasgow on the 7th of May, online on the 27th of May and in Dundee on the 29th of May at 7pm. Sign up here: Edinburgh Glasgow Online Dundee

Hairstyle: Just for Dads and kids! Come and find out how to look after and style your wee ones hair in pony tails and plaits! Next workshop is Glasgow on the 10th of May during the regular Maryhill playgroup. Hair

First Aid Workshop - Our first aid workshops are open to all parents and carers, and have a focus on first aid for babies and toddlers. Join us on the 21st of May in Glasgow to learn about burns, choking, CPR and more, facilitated by the good people of First Stop Safety Training. Sign up here: Glasgow

Sleep Workshop - Our sleep workshop is here to help parents of children aged 6 months and older. In these workshops our team will listen to you and your circumstances, then give you tailored advice about how to help your sleep situation. Leith Abseil

Two of our dads, Rob and Ash, are going above and beyond (literally) by doing an abseil off of the world's tallest whisky distillery on the 10th of May to raise money for Dads Rock. Please sponsor them if you can! SponsorRob SponsorAsh

EMF RELAY

Team Dads Rock is taking on the Edinburgh Marathon - We have a team of four dedicated dads (Including CEO Thomas) who will be taking part to raise money for Dads Rock. Another of our Dads, Jamie, is taking on the half marathon even as well! Every mile they run will help Dads Rock to make a real difference in the lives of dads and their kids.

april rOUND-UP

April was a trip 😉 - or at least we went on a lot of trips in April. In Glasgow we went to Maryhill Fire Station, and following that we went to Sighthill Fire Station in Edinburgh. And in North Ayrshire we did an Egg Hunt in Eglinton park. We really love getting out and about with our dads and families, especially when the weather is a s nice as it has been.

We also ran two workshops during April in Edinburgh: dads antenatal and hairstyle. Thanks to all of those who came along! We hope you enjoyed and learned lots.
