one to one support
Giving men the skills and confidence to enjoy fatherhood
At Dads Rock, we know that every dad’s journey is completely different. We provide flexible, one-to-one support across Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee, and Ayrshire to give you the practical parenting skills, budgeting tools, and emotional backup you need to thrive.
Personalised Guidance for Your Parenting Journey
At Dads Rock, we know that every dad's situation is entirely unique. There is no one-size-fits-all manual for parenting, and wrap-around support shouldn't be one-size-fits-all either.
Our One-to-One Support Service is active across Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee, North Ayrshire, and East Ayrshire. It is designed to provide fathers and male carers with tailored, confidential, and professional guidance right in their own communities. Whether you are dealing with a massive life shift, facing financial pressures, or just want to build your confidence as a parent, our dedicated Dads Workers are here to walk alongside you.
How It Works: Tailored Completely to You
Our experience working with fathers has shown us that every man brings different strengths, skills, and needs to the table. For this reason, we provide a programme tailored completely to the individual.
First, we take the time to get to know you, your children, and your current situation. Together, we look at what is going well and where things feel tough. We then co-produce a flexible plan to build your confidence and expand your practical skills.
Depending on what your family needs most, our one-to-one work covers a wide range of practical and emotional areas, including:
Looking after your own health: Managing stress, anxiety, and mental wellbeing under pressure.
Baby and toddler care: Hands-on confidence with feeding, routines, and looking after young children.
The power of play: Understanding how and why to play with your children to build a rock-solid bond and boost their development.
Household and economic management: Practical budgeting, staying organised as a dad, and managing household stresses.
Navigating the system: Knowing how, when, and where to seek further help when challenges arise.
For some fathers, this will all be brand new, and we are here to help you cope with an enormous change in your life. For others who already have a strong footing, we focus on specific goals to help your family thrive.
The Core Challenges We Tackle Together
While our one-to-one support is delivered locally across Scotland, our workers are trained to address the same critical, interconnected issues in every community we serve.
Prioritising Early Intervention and Prevention
We do not wait for families to reach a crisis point. Too often, support systems become stuck in an emergency response, treating symptoms rather than root causes. Our one-to-one service is explicitly designed around early intervention—stepping into a family's life at the earliest opportunity to build resilience, reduce stress, and establish healthy routines. By tackling challenges before they escalate, we protect children's futures and deliver a powerful preventative dividend for the wider community.
Supporting Paternal Mental Health and Wellbeing
A dad’s mental health directly impacts the stability of the entire household. Paternal postnatal depression, anxiety, and severe stress are incredibly common, yet fathers are frequently overlooked in maternal-led spaces or feel pressured to hide their struggles. We provide a safe, confidential space where men can talk openly about their mental health without fear of judgement. Our workers help dads identify coping strategies, navigate the psychological shifts of parenthood, and build the emotional resilience needed to bond confidently with their children.
Empowering and Guiding Young Dads
Becoming a parent at a young age brings a unique set of societal pressures, assumptions, and life transitions. Our one-to-one support places a strong emphasis on providing a relatable, encouraging space for young fathers and male carers. We help young men navigate the complexities of housing, employment, education, and early parenting skills, ensuring they are fully empowered to be equal, confident partners in raising their families.
Alleviating Poverty and Financial Stress
Financial hardship and the cost of living crisis place immense strain on family dynamics. In every area we operate, our one-to-one service acts as a vital buffer against child poverty. We work intensively with families facing economic hardship, combining practical parenting support with direct financial capability work. We help dads manage tight budgets, access essential community resources, and bypass crisis points so that financial stress doesn't stand in the way of a happy, secure childhood.
Partnerships with family services
We believe that the best support is joined-up. To ensure families receive a seamless, whole-family experience, our one-to-one service operates in close partnership with local NHS Family Nurse Partnerships (FNP), social work teams and other professionals working with families. Our team utilises trauma-informed practice to support all fathers, placing a vital focus on those navigating the critical first 1001 days of their child's life—from conception to age two. This ensures compassionate, early support during the most formative window of a child's development.

“Thank you, I feel less alone in this - I am not perfect, I’ve made so many mistakes, and I have so much to do better, but in this I felt like I didn’t matter as a dad. But after speaking to you (the dads worker), I feel that dads do and always matter.
