Fundraising Research Volunteer

Role overview

We are looking for a volunteer to help with our fundraising aims within the local community. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to contribute towards raising vital funds and awareness of Dads Rock in Edinburgh or Glasgow.

As with many charities, the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted our income, but we have continued to support Dads and families in Scotland throughout. We have seen a continued increase in demand for our services over the past 2 years and in order to continue providing and expanding our vital services for Dads and families, we need to increase our funding and support from businesses and the community. We’re looking for an enthusiastic and organised volunteer to help our fundraising team with this. 

What will I do?

As a Fundraising Research Volunteer, you will help towards our fundraising activities, supporting our fundraising team to identify opportunities for donations, fundraising and other local support. 

Activities could include:

  • Carrying out research to identify community grants (e.g. supermarkets and corporate grants) and charity of the year opportunities with local businesses

  • Carrying out research into community and social groups such as Rotary Clubs, Round Tables, Masonic Clubs and Golf Clubs

  • Sourcing prizes and gifts for fundraising events from local businesses

  • Updating spreadsheets with your research

About you

This volunteering opportunity would suit anyone who is well organised, proficient in Word and Excel (or Google equivalent) and has good written and verbal communication skills. The role requires someone with a strong sense of community who is able to engage with our fundraising team, individuals and businesses. Experience in fundraising, research, sales or marketing would be an advantage but not essential. We anticipate that you would need to be able to spend a minimum of 2 hours a week volunteering.

Essential skills/experience

  • Excellent written and verbal communication

  • Good computer and digital skills - Word, Excel (or Google equivalent), email 

  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and able to work as part of a team 

Desirable skills/experience

  • Knowledge of local businesses and community (Glasgow or Edinburgh)

  • Interest in helping Dads Rock achieve its aims 

  • Fundraising, marketing or sales experience
