Dads Rock is Tackling Online Radicalisation

If you’ve watched the recent Netflix series Adolescence, or followed Thomas's post about it last year, you know that the conversation around youth radicalisation has reached a turning point. It is no longer a distant "internet issue"—it is a community crisis that specifically targets boys and young men.

At Dads Rock, we believe that dads and male role models are the first line of defence. However, to provide the right support, we need a strategy that is relevant, accessible, and informed by you.

We are working with a team of third-year undergraduate researchers from Edinburgh Napier University to help us outline a strategy to address youth radicalisation and social media harm. This isn't just an academic exercise; it’s about creating a draft framework that we can use to lobby local government and public services for better protection and education.

The project team is currently mapping stakeholder perspectives to find the "gaps" in the system. We want to know:

  • When you think about your child's internet use, what concerns you the most?

  • How confident do you feel responding if your child came to you upset or confused about something online?

  • How well do you think fathers' perspectives are represented in existing information, policy and support services?

How You Can Help

We are looking for parents, caregivers, and professionals to complete a focused survey. Your insights will directly inform the pilot programs and policy recommendations we present to decision-makers later this year.

This is an opportunity to apply real-world principles to a critical social issue. Let’s ensure our response is as loud as the voices trying to influence our children.
